If Today Was Hard

No context needed. No explanation required. If today was hard, this letter is simply for you.

Some days do not have a reason. You did everything the same as yesterday and your body answered differently, and by afternoon you were searching backward through the hours trying to find the mistake.

There may not have been one. Bodies are not machines with a single switch. They respond to sleep, weather, worry, a phone call, a memory, and about forty things nobody has named yet.

A hard day is information, not a verdict.

I would not ask you to look for the lesson in it tonight. Sometimes a day is just difficult and then it ends, and ending is the useful part.

What I would ask, gently: try not to spend the evening prosecuting yourself for it. You were not careless. You were living, in a body that is currently expensive to live in.

Tomorrow gets to be its own day. It does not inherit this one.

You got through it. That was the whole task. — Tammie

If this letter helped you feel a little less alone today… carry that feeling with you.

Whenever you’re ready

If you’d like to stay a little longer

Three quiet doors, and no obligation to open any of them tonight.
